It's October. Halloween is just weeks away. What better month to read creepy, scary, fairy tales. After all, fair tales were originally created to scare children into behaving - that was eons before Mr. Disney got a hold of them.
I'm currently reading Reckless by Cornelia Funke. It's about two brothers, Will and Jacob, who venture into a world beyond a mirror where fairy tales are frightening and not full of happy endings. I love Cornelia Funke, but this is one dark and gruesome book. Yet, I'm hooked. That's what so great about Funke's writing - whether a light story like Igraine the Brave or a more dark and brooding like Inkheart, the reader can't just walk away from the story. So far Reckless is a perfect October/Halloween read. Stay tuned for a full review later.
